Qalam Nigar X The Framers

If you want your Nikkah signature to feel like a scene from an old-world love story, a vintage-style quill or dip pen is the traditional choice. Unlike standard ballpoints that roll generic ink, these pens feature classic metal nibs paired with real colored feathers, antique gear details, or carved metal owl grips.

Before any pen leaves us, we test the nib on paper to make sure the ink flows smoothly without scratching or blotting. Best of all, we can custom-engrave your name, wedding date, or “Qabool Hai” onto the pen handle. Browse our selection of vintage feather quills and steampunk designs below to find the one that fits your ceremony.

How to Choose and Write with Your Nikkah Quill Pen

Picking the Right Style for Your Theme

Your pen is going to be in your wedding photos and close-up video shots, so matching it to your decor is key:

  • The Classic Wedding: Choose a plush white or black feather quill with gold gear details. It looks clean, traditional, and contrasts beautifully against the white Nikkah Nama.
  • Rustic or Outdoor Ceremony: Look for deep teal, purple, or crimson feathers. These stand out against wood accents and floral backdrops.
  • The Modern Groom: A steampunk wing design or a carved metal owl handle offers a sleek, industrial aesthetic without the traditional feather.

Quick Tips for a Smooth Signature on the Day

Dip pens write beautifully, but they behave differently from standard gel pens. Because the metal nib is slightly flexible, it creates natural line variation (like classic calligraphy). Here is how to ensure your signature is crisp:

  1. Hold the pen at a 45-degree angle: Do not hold it completely upright like a ballpoint. A gentler slope helps the ink flow naturally from the nib tip.
  2. Use light pressure: Let the metal tip slide across the paper. Pressing too hard can split the tip or tear the textured paper of your marriage contract.
  3. Practice first: We include a small scrap sheet of matching paper with your order. We highly recommend having the bride and groom write a few test loops on it before signing the actual contract.
  4. Allow 30 seconds to dry: Real fountain pen ink takes a few seconds longer to set than quick-dry gel. Let the signature air dry before folding the Nikkah Nama.
